Whilst at DFS, we were asked to take the Gallup Clifton Strengths Finder Test. This was to form part of a wider project to really understand each other in the team and be the building blocks to a more harmonious atmosphere.
Truly knowing and understanding each other, would allow us to adapt our approach depending on their strengths, it would assist us in understanding where each team member would excel in a project and where they may struggle or shy away from.
Below are my top 5 along with the detail behind the word.
These have been taken from the Gallup export that I received.
SHARED THEME DESCRIPTION
People who are especially talented in the Ideation theme are fascinated by ideas. They are able to find
connections between seemingly disparate phenomena.
YOUR PERSONALISED STRENGTHS INSIGHTS
What makes you stand out?
It’s very likely that you may be the person to whom group members turn for original thoughts. Perhaps
ideas pop into your consciousness as soon as someone describes a problem or an opportunity. Because of
your strengths, you tune in to people and work out what they are saying and thinking about you. You are
acutely aware of how individuals regard you. You probably curry — that is, try to win — the favour of some
and seek to impress others. Chances are good that you might welcome opportunities to exchange new
theories, innovative thoughts or intriguing concepts. Sometimes the original thinking of individuals
stimulates your creativity. Driven by your talents, you sometimes feel comfortable sharing your original
ideas with groups. Perhaps they welcome your innovations. Maybe they realise you suggest novel ways of
doing things they would never have considered. Instinctively, you sometimes have more innovative ideas
or original suggestions than others in a group. Perhaps you are delighted to participate in forums where
you can present your creative concepts. Some individuals may share your desire to improve things. This
might explain why they welcome your suggestions.
SHARED THEME DESCRIPTION
People who are especially talented in the Responsibility theme take psychological ownership of what they
say they will do. They are committed to stable values such as honesty and loyalty.
YOUR PERSONALISED STRENGTHS INSIGHTS
What makes you stand out?
It’s very likely that you sometimes feel comfortable being open and honest about who you are. Maybe you
avoid people who are less than truthful. You may prefer to spend time with individuals who speak as
candidly as you do about their strengths, shortcomings, hopes, failures or successes. Because of your
strengths, you sometimes volunteer to do things rather than wait to be asked to assume more duties.
Instinctively, you might be honest with yourself about yourself. Perhaps your personal integrity tells you the
right thing to do in many situations. Chances are good that you try to finish the tasks you agreed to do.
Perhaps you even overcome some unexpected problems. Occasionally you work longer hours when it is
necessary. Maybe you do whatever you can to avoid breaking the promises you made to people. Driven by
your talents, you occasionally take on additional tasks. Why? Maybe you want to keep busy. You may be
compelled to assume full ownership of your work. Perhaps you continually discover more things you can
do, should do or must do. Perhaps you willingly accept the consequences of your words, deeds, action or
lack of action.
SHARED THEME DESCRIPTION
People who are especially talented in the Relator theme enjoy close relationships with others. They find
deep satisfaction in working hard with friends to achieve a goal.
YOUR PERSONALISED STRENGTHS INSIGHTS
What makes you stand out?
By nature, you periodically consider skills you might upgrade to be a better trainer or coach. Perhaps you
derive some satisfaction from helping individuals improve personally or professionally. Driven by your
talents, you are comfortable offering suggestions to people who regularly seek your counsel — that is,
recommendations about a decision or course of action they are considering. These individuals usually feel
deep affection for you. You are likely to spend time together socialising as well as working or studying.
Instinctively, you occasionally uncover how and why certain things happen as they do. You might share
these discoveries with colleagues, teammates or friends. Perhaps you streamline your explanations,
covering only the essential facts. Some listeners may appreciate receiving less detail so the main points
are apparent. Chances are good that you might help people grasp elaborate or complicated ideas,
processes, theories or rules. Maybe you intentionally use easy-to-understand words and phrases. It’s very
likely that you might identify the most basic and important parts of elaborate ideas, processes or
technologies. Maybe you avoid confusing people because you do not want to overwhelm them with too
many details.
SHARED THEME DESCRIPTION
People who are especially talented in the Analytical theme search for reasons and causes. They have the
ability to think about all the factors that might affect a situation.
YOUR PERSONALISED STRENGTHS INSIGHTS
What makes you stand out?
Driven by your talents, you are an objective person. You investigate the problems you must face in life. You
methodically reason through these difficulties. Often you create workable solutions. It’s very likely that you
may work to identify the forces that influence situations in which you are, have been or might be involved.
By nature, you may be earnest, solemn or businesslike when circumstances require socially correct
behaviour. Perhaps you thoroughly study certain things before making decisions, designing plans or taking
action. Because of your strengths, you may approach certain win-lose situations in a practical and realistic
manner. When you are intent on being victorious, perhaps you extinguish any sentimental feelings you
might have toward your rivals. Chances are good that you enjoy finding recurring sequences in numerical
data. Numbers tell you stories about emerging trends, potential problems, profit and loss forecasts or
information gaps. People probably marvel at your ability to process the numbers and decide what they
mean.
SHARED THEME DESCRIPTION

good at figuring out what is wrong and resolving it.
YOUR PERSONALISED STRENGTHS INSIGHTS
What makes you stand out?
Instinctively, you might be a guide for certain types of people. Perhaps you are interested in finding better
techniques for offering a select group your advice or suggestions. You contend that some individuals may
make more progress when they pinpoint something they do poorly, then concentrate on fixing it. You hint
that this approach has sometimes worked well for you. By nature, you may be determined to be the best,
“number one,” or the champion. Maybe you have mentors and coaches who tell you what you need to do
better, even when their messages are somewhat painful to hear. Now and then, you devise ways to
overcome deficiencies that prevent you from finishing in first place. Because of your strengths, you now
and then consider new ways to help people recognise and enjoy their accomplishments. Perhaps you
ponder how you could do a better job of encouraging particular individuals to excel. Driven by your talents,
you may create opportunities to spend time thinking with forward-looking people. You might rely on their
vivid imaginations to help you work out how to fix things in your personal or professional life. Chances are
good that you may lavish praise on others. Even so, you occasionally suggest how they might do some
things better the next time.
