I do feel this section is as important than the other sections, as I know it is not just about what i can bring and do for the company, but also will I fit in with the team. Below are a handful of things I enjoy when I am not in the office.
This is just the highlights of what I enjoy outside of the office. If you want to know more, there are links at the bottom of the page where you can reach out to me.
I feel very privileged and lucky that my mum owns a racehorse, so whilst I am in this position I try to enjoy it as much as I can. Having been a fan of horse racing for a long time and always enjoyed going to the races as a punter, it's great to experience it from an owner's perspective. So far we've had some good days out.
Last season we had 2 wins, 2 places and 4 other races which I'll just skip over. Whilst I say I enjoy it, in all honesty I think I prefer going to the races as a punter instead of an owner. I say this because as a punter you can just enjoy the day, care free. As an owner, your thoughts are on the welfare of the jockey and the horse, and then of course there's the result!
Having said this I absolutely love the day, as it's an opportunity to spend time with family and friends.
Even now I'm amazed at how well looked after the horses are, their well-being is paramount above everything else and that is something that I feel gets overlooked.
One thing that we often say is... No matter the result, we'll have a good time.
Since the early 90s I have been a supporter of gateshead FC and in recent years I have been traveling the length and breath of the country to show my support.
One thing that I am proud of is the reputation which us as supporters have throughout the non-league community. Whilst Premiership supporters are can only go into selected bars and appear to want to fight other supporters, Gateshead FC supporters on the other hand interact with all supporters both before and after games, so much so that we have been invited into other club's hospitality Lounges, even after winning the game! Our player's families enjoy spending time with us on an away day and even injured players will sit with us. On occasions I have provided a lift or two to train stations etc for my fellow supporters, team officials and even opposition supporters.
New supporters are always welcomed and we'll try to convert YouTubers who visit us. You can see my failed attempt on a YouTuber page here (opens You Tube)
After a very serious accident, my recovery began like everyone else's recovery does - physio!
Over time, the physiotherapy got easier so I've been encouraged to keep pushing, keep going which is exactly what I am doing. I hate to say it but there is a part of me that enjoys the workout I've created for myself. I continue to do physio exercises and expand my knowledge by learning more about my body and the impact of different exercises. I do have a 'nice' collection of scars which I use as a reminder to keep doing the exercises I've put in place for myself.
When I was slightly younger, I used to play football and during my spell at Eastern Airways I was the co-founder of the Aviation Cup which was a five-a-side tournament for companies within the aviation sector. It was amazing as it brought companies together through football, even though some companies (including us) were competing against each other in the aviation world we all had a fantastic time.
This was hard to decide which picture to put alongside this section. I personally have opted for something that took a lot of planning and work to create, my domino clock still proudly hangs on the wall and anyone that visits always compliments it.When seeking feedback on the website a few people did say my beard should be the picture for this section, which sounds confusing but hear me out... on special occasions I am known for decorating my beard with custom-made decor so that it fits the style that I seek for the occasion, which could be a Christmas work beard, football beard or horse racing beard, with the overall goal is to give people a bit of a laugh at my expense.
On the DIY side, I try to do it myself rather than getting someone in as I enjoy learning new skills and get a lot of satisfaction seeing the end result. The list of things I have done myself is endless but I would say the highlights are: car servicing, up-cycling, electrical work and plumbing work.
